Beaches and coves in Carvoeiro and surrounding area
Please find your own dreamful favourite beach, you have so many beautyful places to choose.
All the following beaches have fine yellow sand. The quality of the water is described as very good. Each of these beaches can be reached within a 5 -7 minute drive from Carvoeiro.
PRAIA DA MARINHA
The beautiful beach in Benagil with amazing cliffs provides panoramic view from the coast.
PRAIA DE BENAGIL
The big beach is surrounded by cliffs. At the entrance to the beach there is a small cafeteria, showers and toilets.
PRAIA DO CARVALHO
The beach is at the end of the Algarve Club Atlântico and it is reachable through steps and a tunnel in the cliffs. This beach was used by Capitão Carvalho until late 1930’s and so it was called “Smuggler’s Cove”.
PRAIA VALE DE CENTEANES
This long beach is located among high cliffs. You follow the street to the parking area and then the stone steps to the beach. A restaurant with a café, toilets and showers are also available.

PRAIA VALE DO COVO
Right by Hotel Tivoli, you can take the steps that lead you to this quaint little beach.
PRAIA DO CARVOEIRO
This beach is located in the center of Carvoeiro, surrounded by restaurants and cafés. The big square right next to it is used for live music and other events all through summer.
PRAIA DO PARAISO
Steep stone steps just underneath the restaurant “O Boteco” take you to this small beach.
PRAIA DOS CANEIROS
Left on the road to Ferragudo lies this long and beautiful beach, that has a restaurant and a cafeteria.
PRAIA DO PINTADNHO
This idyllic and beautiful beach is located after Hotel Casabela and has a restaurant and a cafeteria.
PRAIA GRANDE
Just like its name says, this is one of the big beaches by Ferragudo with all facilities and a big parking area.
Also to be mentioned are the beaches of Praia da Rocha by Portimão, the very big beach of Alvor (altogether almost 15 km long) and the beach of Armação de Pêra, that extends almost to Albufeira and so has always a spot available even in high season. These beaches can be reached within more or less 20 minutes by car.
